Spray tanning

A personalized, radiant glow — without compromising your skin's health.

Need a little glow for a wedding, vacation, holiday party, senior photos, prom, or a special weekend? A custom spray tan is a quick, confidence-boosting way to even out your skin tone and add natural-looking color without UV exposure.

At Brushed on Main in Wayland, your spray tan is personalized to your skin tone, undertone, and the look you're going for — from a soft sun-kissed glow to a deeper bronze. Whether you're getting ready for family pictures, a bridal shower, a lake weekend, homecoming, a beach trip, or just want to feel a little more like yourself, we'll help you choose a shade that looks smooth, flattering, and never overdone.

Unlike tanning beds or outdoor tanning, spray tanning gives you color without the skin-aging effects of UV rays. Please note: a spray tan does not protect against sunburn, so you'll still want to wear SPF when you're outdoors.

Spray tan — questions & answers

How should I prepare for a spray tan?
Shave or wax at least 24 hours before your appointment (48 hours for waxing). Exfoliate 24 hours prior with an oil-free scrub or exfoliating mitt — go deeper than a washcloth. Arrive with clean, dry skin: no makeup, lotion, deodorant, perfume, or body oil.
What should I wear?
Loose, dark clothing and open-toe shoes or sandals. During your session, wear old dark undergarments, a swimsuit, or our disposable options. Women may go without; men are required to wear boxers or briefs. Avoid tight straps, bras, and leggings until after your first rinse.
What do I do right after my session?
Avoid all water, sweating, working out, lotion, deodorant, and perfume until your first rinse. Your technician will give you an exact development time based on the solution used — typically 8–12 hours (never exceed 24).
How do I take my first shower?
Rinse in lukewarm water only — no soap. Use your hands to gently guide the bronzer off until the water runs clear. Pat dry with a towel; never rub.
How long does a spray tan last?
With proper prep and aftercare, 7–10 days.
How do I make it last longer?
  • Moisturize daily with an oil-free lotion (morning and night)
  • Use a sulfate-free, oil-free body wash — skip bar soaps
  • Pat dry after every shower
  • Avoid exfoliating products, AHAs, retinoids, and scrubs until you're ready for it to fade
  • Minimize chlorine, hot tubs, saunas, and long hot baths
  • After swimming or water exposure, rinse with fresh water, pat dry, and reapply lotion
Does a spray tan protect me from the sun?
No. A spray tan provides zero UV protection. Always apply sunscreen when spending time outdoors.
